FS: New, highly modded Red Wine Audio Toshiba 3980

All,

I have a new (about 20 hours total) highly modded Toshiba 3980 dvd/cd player that I am putting up for sale.

Here are the mods that I performed:

-- Installation of new RCA jacks (in new location)
-- Direct wiring of the output off the Burr-Brown DAC directly to the RCA jacks via Auricap coupling capacitors, completely bypassing the opamp output stage.
-- Silver-mica caps across the RCA jacks for HF noise filtering
-- Replace DAC power coupling caps Black Gate NX-Hi-Q caps
-- Extensive power supply board modifications
-- Installation of IEC power jack
-- Installation of dampening material to the 27MHz crystal oscillator, and to the inside of unit where determined to be needed.

This is the latest version of the 3980 with the new power supply board and metal enclosure. The transport is extremely quiet, and the drawer open/close operation is very smooth. I have the orginal box and remote. When I mod these, I usually charge $360 for the player + mods. I am selling this unit as a special for $249 + shipping.

Damn,

Cant' believe I missed this. I have a stock Toshiba 3980 in my bedroom system and it sounds very nice. Maybe Vinnie can entice me with an upgrade package via PM, since I don't see any details or costs on his website.

I haven't posted the Toshiba mods on my website, but really should because I've been modding them since they came out with the 3950. (Let's not forget to thank Rosconey for discovering it

)

I'd be happy to mod your 3980 with the same mods as the one sold above. Email me and we'll work out the details/cost when you are ready. It'll probably be a couple of weeks before I can get to it though...I've been insanely busy

Thanks for the e-mail and information. The Toshiba 3980 sound pretty damn good in stock form in my second system, so I can't wait to hear it with your modifications.
