This article appears in the current issue of Audio Express. Note that it was written by the Product Marketing Manager of Texas Instruments, which manufactures these "chip amps" under the PurePath Digital brand and they're used in receivers from Panasonic and Kenwood, aongst others.

I am almost afraid to admit it but.....

I know who that "engineer/audiophile" is. Nothing against him, he just works for a place that is not well thought of here in Dallas by a lot of us techie types.

That's why I mentioned he works for TI. I have no engineering background to know whether he is correct or not.
