Looking for a transport only that will be fed into my pre.  Currently using a AMC-Cd8b with a volex PC and some of that asphalt damping paper on the inside.

I guess I could buy a used Wadia, but 1k seems a little excessive at this point.

Thanks in advance.

I use a Phillips 963SA and I am very happy with it.  Steve Nugent from Empirical Audio has a circle here and rates it as one of the best as a transport.  I got mine from Music Direct for about $450.  I think they went down in price since.  I just checked their web site and I don't think they handle Phillips anymore.  I checked Audiogon and there is a used one for sale for around $200.

Although they're getting old, the Sony S7700 has a street price of $200 used and it reported to be excellent.  (Its a DVD player with separate CD playback head, making it unique.  It was Sony's first/flagship DVD player.)

I have no compliants of mine, but I've also heard of repair shops full of them (too expensive to fix).

EAD T-1000. I have both the Sony and the EAD and it wins.

The EAD T-1000 is outstanding. If you can find one. I have changed DAC's over the years but have never found a suitable replacement for a transport. I'm sure there is one...at a price.[/b]

A few months ago I had decided on a Stello CDT200, but I have now joined the new audio revolution: my computer, FLAC and a Bolder-modded SqueezeBox2. No reasonable comparison possible at about $700.

I spent about the same on an audio PC.  It's ridiculously good and my entire cd collection is organized and at my fingertips.

Nice idea, but untill I buy a new TV I wont be going this route as my main system serves dual duties in the family room.

You guys using any small form factor PC's for this job?
