Can someoone ID this cable cooker?
« on: 19 Aug 2005, 01:27 pm »
A friend of mine loaned me a cable cooker. It's two small grey boxes with a small white dot on the underside of one of them. You plug a supplied electrical transformer into one box. The boxes are 'double sided' i.e. one side is used for burning in analog cables the other side for digitlal cables.  It can handle both balanced and unbalanced cables.

Does anyone know what brand it is, what the official directions are for burning in new unbalanced interconnects, if it can be used to recondition existing cables and if so how?

I would say its Snake Oil Jerry's " Physics Schmysics Box 1.0"

Very good model and money well spent.

Are you referring to the audiodharma cable cooker? That's not it.

The unit I have  looks very home made. It's nicely done but it looks like someone bought off the shelf grey boxes and built it up from there.

Can you open it up and possibly ID the PCB's in it?

Could be a Hagtech FryCleaner. If it is Hagerman Technologies has a circle here at AC that you can ask about the proper use of it.

There are two boxes. Box 1 has a breadboard with three IC's on it. The IC have the numbers scratched off.

Two of the chips are 14 pins Harris ICs. The other one is an 8 chip IC (my guess this is the IC that powers the board)

The other box has only connectors with resistors to ground.

I can't find anything on Jerry's cooker. Can someone point me to a link on it?
