Hi everyone!

Back in 2001 at Harmonic Discord (the earlier Odyssey forum site) I responded to a post about how we endure the wait for our Stratos or Tempest to arrive. (This was before Klaus was selling speakers.) Now that I am again waiting, this time for my mono-blocks Extreme and Tempest Extreme, I thought it would be amusing to revive the thread. Please post your own experience if you want others to commiserate with you or just for fun.

Below is my slightly exaggerated post from Aug 21, 2001:

You will lose sleep. You will lose weight. You will constantly stare at the space where your Stratos will be if it ever arrives. You will repeatedly show your friends the Odyssey web site. You will visit the Odyssey web site twice a day. You will find excuses to phone Klaus as if you were involved in the creation of your Stratos. You will offer to make coffee at Odyssey for any of the staff. Klaus will be amused but it will not change anything. You will be tempted to sleep in your car in the parking lot of the Odyssey office. You will re-read all the Stratos reviews and user comments for the 50th time. It will be the longest 6-8-10 weeks wait you will ever endure in your entire life and more difficult than waiting for your child to be born. And then when your Stratos arrives the wait begins all over again during the 2-3 month burn in period. You will proudly show your friends your new Stratos but you will not allow them to hear it just then. They will not understand. How could they?

hey James, i am in a similar situation but the newest object of my affection is a seductive Siren named Lorelei. i can tell you that the mono Extremes will sound very good right out of the box but then a metamorphosis will take place and gradualy the grin on your face will become wider and wider with each passing day. these amplifiers take a very long time to fully develop thier true character.the mono Extremes are like an iron fist in a velvet glove.when i ordered my mono extremes the wait was not bad at all because i had a pair of khartago monos that were truly excellent in thier own right. klaus let me ship them back to him after i received the mono Extremes.i bought the standard Tempest with a remote option because Klaus said i did not require a Extreme version due to the fact that i dont use a turntable. the waiting game can drive you crazy but in the end it is well worth the wait. i just got off the Symphonic Line website and noticed that Rolf Gemein offers a new version of the RG 11 in a monoblock form. it is called the high society and the specs are very similar to the mono extremes including the 300 wpc rating. it even has a brushed aluminum faceplate with a lighted logo on the front. does this sound familiar?both the Stratos and khartago amplifiers are based on the Symphonic Line RG 11 and Klaus ships the circuit boards in from Germany. how long till you take delivery of your new Odyssey gear?                William C Waldecker III

Bunky,

Klaus says I'm still two weeks away for shipping but I've been without my Stratos/Tempest for six weeks. It's unbearable using my old HK receiver in the meantime.

look at the bright side there are worse receivers than the HK that you could be stuck listening to while you wait.two weeks left to wait after six weeks already? piece of cake!i still have to wait till next tuesday for the Loreleis to arrive. damn it !the waiting is the hardest part.

Nonono,  no more 2-3 months waiting periods.  Let's face it,  we have become much more efficient in production,  and the average right now is about 2 + weeks or so on pretty much all products.
As for James,  there is quite  a bit delay,  because of custom colors.  All green,  baby.

i must agree with Klaus about the 2 weeks on average waiting period. if i recall correctly both times i ordered mono blocks. first the Khartago monos and six months later the mono Extremes it took about 2 weeks including the three days it takes to ship from Indy to my house. but i ordered the basic black versions. custom colors are nice though.
