The Absolute Sound review of P-8
« on: 17 Jan 2007, 01:34 pm »
It is in the Feb 2007 issue of TAS by Chris Martens.
Extracted comment:
"...Both the Metis and P8 are sonic overachievers that offer different but complementary interpretations of the absolute sound...if the Metis is a tube preamp with some solid state-like qualities, then the NuForce P8 is its complementary opposite-a solid-state preamp that offers certain tube-like virtues...the P8 is quieter, more flexible, and more revealing of subtle inner details, and it offers greater definition, broader frequency response, and unequivocal superior bass. Both preamps compete effectively with models twice the price, and either would make a splendict introduction to the world of high-end separates..."

P-8 finally get the recognition it deserves  :thumb:

Original P-8 customer can trade-in to P-9 using full P-8 MSRP as credit.  Non-original owner can trade-in using 50% P-8 MSRP as credit.

Excellent news on the upgrade path Jason.  Are the dealers all briefed on this special program?  If so, I will commence my upgrade today. Also, did you decide whether you'd offer a package deal upgrade for those of us looking to upgrade both our P-8 and Ref9's (to 9se) at the same time?  That is what I intend to do. Thanks Jason!

Dealers should be aware of it but some don't read my email carefully .  I am going to remind them.
No hurry, P-9 won't be shipping in volume until end of Feb.  We have a small batch of P-9 going the rounds with distributors and reviewers.

No special deal for upgrading from Ref 9 to Ref 9SE.  That will be unfair to those who purchase Ref 9SE.  We structured our discounts for the following purposes:
1) Encourage customer to buy more.
2) Provide migration path from one generation of the same product to the next (eg IA-7 50Wx2 to 100Wx2) or to better product (P-8 to P-9).

We want to make sure that customers will not regret buying today and also ended up paying more. For example, the 100Wx2 IA-7 now retails for $1495 but previous customers can upgrade for only $150 ($1195 + $150).

So, go snap up a used Nuforce products if you find a good deal
