Long Balanced Interconnects for Active Speakers
« on: 8 Aug 2005, 12:30 am »
Has anyone experimented with long, 4M to 10m, balanced cables between a preamp and active speakers?  I have a pair of active ATC 20-2's connected to my preamp.  I want to try a different cable from the preamp to the speakers.  Typically these speakers, in studio form, are connected using microphone wire.  Thank you in advance.

I was going to say to try mic cables, as they are measured and made for this exact purpose.

Dave,
Thank you for the offer.  I need a 25' pair with XLR termination, male-female..  If you don't want to do this, I would certainly understand.  Thanks.

Hi Dave,
You could go with a little less, maybe 20'.  I have one helluva run between my equipment stand and the right speaker.  I'm using a 6 M pair of NACA 5 speaker cables for the Naim gear and they're a almost right.
        Thanks again.
