Let me start the ball rolling by asking what setup fellow 938ers have with their 938s.

Mine:

Meridian G91 "all-in-one" player/preamp
Krell KSA-100 power amp

Looking for a good tube amp to go with the 938. Anyone heard Hyperion's new tube monos yet???

Hi Roy! Thanks for posting.  As for my setup:

Hyperion 938s with the updated stands.
Jungson 88D Luxury Edition (new one currently being delivered to me after the first one developed problems)
Currently using a cheap 25 watt Yamaha all-in-one receiver/CDP to drive my 938s with surprisingly good results.
Eastsound E5 CDP (CE version)
Crystal clear speaker cables and interconnects.
Analogue research Power Cords.
Signal Cable Magic power Cord and Digital Power Cord.
Bright Star Isonode Isolation Feets.
Hyperion Magnetic Floater M55 Isolation Feets.

I will be posting pictures of my setup and tweaks as soon as my system is up and running fully.

Roy I did hear the new Hyperion Tube Monos at the last NY show.  It has that relaxed, dimensional tube sound with sweet highs and drives the 938s surprisingly well given the power.  The bass is not tight or extended as  a good SS as you can imagin.

Hi fellow Hyperion owners !!

My set up is as follows :-

Audio Aero Capitole 24/192 CD player
Graaf GM50 Valve Integrated amp
Hyperion HPS-938 speakers
Stereovox cabling (Studio line)
Finite Elemente Pagode HD rack

Getting the Hyperions for me was the final icing on a good cake.

Looking forward to many more discussions.  :)

Hi Nick,

I've always had my eye on the the Graaf integrated, but too expensive for me.  How does it mate with tehe 938?  I used to have a tube integrated and tube CDP with mine, but I found the bass a bit bloated and the tube hiss bothered me.  Now I'm class A SS all the way.

Hi everyone.

I use my 938 with an all digital setup : modified Tact RCS, modified Tact 2150 and i use a Teac DV50s as drive.
All cables or nearly are Furutech Reference series.

Hi Dracule1

IMHO Graaf works very well with the Hyperions. There is no hiss and the bass is very controlled but not overly or unnaturaly tight, which I hate. The new Graaf is not at all like the old Graaf Venticinque integrated, it is a fine sounding amplifier with plenty of control. You can tell it is a valve amp but not because of ill defined and bloaty bass. It just has that silky tonally lush sound that tubes do so well, in this case without the extra calories. As a bonus it also looks like a million pounds and has remote volume and source select !!

Likewise the Audio Aero isn't like a lot of the valve output players I've heard in that it doesn't utilise the valves as some kind of filter, it just provides that lovely airy spacious sound.

When I first heard the Graaf with the Hyperions I was instantly in love.

Incidentally I have found over the years that I can really fine tune the speaker in my medium room (18'  * 12 * 8) using the Wilson Audio speaker placement method. Using this method usually helps tame the room's 30Hz ish boom in my situation.

Cheers

Nick

Well,

I now have WBT RCA-inputs, a new masterclock (by Guido Tent, www.tentlabs.com), a new analog outputstage (LC-Audiozapfilter MK2, www.lcaudio.dk) and dampening with bitumen sheets.

Greetz,

Welcome Roeland.  Your the first owner of 906 I know of.  I was considering getting it before I gave in and got the 938s.  How do you like them?

Hey Dracule,

I'll post my findings as soon as possible. I'm a bit busy for school for the moment (re exams at university).
I've had all the models at my home, except the 938. I also believe I was/am the first one worldwide to write a review on Hyperions smallest baby (check http://audioforum.be/article-458-thread-0-0.html )

Oh Yes: A picture as excuse for the waiting

Excellent!  That looks like a professional review.  Too bad it's not in English - I wish I could read it.  Looks like you also have the Hyperion magnetic floater underneath your CDP.  I have them too, and they really do make a difference in CD playback.  I was really surprised when I first tried them out.  Could you give a summary of the sound of the 908 in English?  Thanks.

My set at this moment:
Sony XA 50ES
Tact Millennium MK2
Hyperion HPS 938
Before the Tact I owned the DK VS1 ,the sound was very good from top to bottom. But recently I found this Tact  and couldn`t resist it

My system is: HPS 938's, Hyperion BEC-25P pre amp and 2 Hyperion solid state monoblock amps.
It is truly superb!
I strongly recommend driving the now legendary HPS 938's with the equipment that was designed to make them sing.
