If any of you are frustrated "air drummers", do what I did.

I bought a set of electronic drum pads, and hooked them up to a "cheap mixer" so I could also mix in a CD and plug in some phones.

So you can adjust your drum kit to play with your favorite CD drum tracks.

I can do this for hours on end. It is not as easy as "air drums" but once you get the hand foot (yes there are kick drum and highhat pedals) coordination, and the riffs, it is a blast.

I bought bongos, I was always an Air Hand Drummer. Now I can play along as I'm listening to music, and if I play the music loud enough I can even pretend that I sound OK

Cool!

The "kit" I purchased, has a "hand setting" which allows you to program in bongos too and some of the Santana cuts are pretty challenging.

So now my hands are all beat up and I have blisters where the drumsticks rub, but man is it a good time.

Click on "Show Hints", and it will tell you what keys to use on your keyboard for easier drumming....

I know, but it didn't work. Probably because I was using Mozilla or something. No big whoop, the samples sounded like ass anyway!

I've got all the hardware for an electronic kit (two Boss drum machines DR 660 and 770 and an Alesis DM-Pro) but no pads. So I just play them with my fingers. No blisters that way I guess. Heh! I also have got Cakewalk on my PC playing Soundfonts. It's amazing how much a great acoustic drum sample can really make you play better. Or at least sound like you do! Only problem with drum machines is that they don't do dynamics very well. The pads recognize 128 velocities but what you can actually play is much less. The difference in resolution between the human and the device is the main problem. But hey, at least there's no pissed off neighbors! You can't exactly plug headphones into a snare drum.

This is a KIT!

Terry Bozzio's drum kit from around 2003. At least 21 DW drums, no less than 34 custom made cymbals by Sabian and I believe I counted 11 foot pedals. None of this is for show. He plays all of it. Saw him play this kit at a clinic a few years back and the man's a Monster. The ostinatos he sets up with his feet could be one drummer all in itself but then what he plays on top of it is over the edge when you watch and hear all this. With one twenty minute solo he performed, he's the only percussionist that I've ever heard who could actually invoke fear with performing his composition. Kind of dark but....WOW!

You can also drag your mouse over the letters (show hints as Phil pointed out). Doing so plays the kit.

This is kind of cool since you can play much faster by simply breezing past (no clicking) the drums with the mouse pointer.

You can also use one hand on the keyboard and the other on the mouse if you want to go nuts
