James: Line Conditioner with SP1.7

Hi James,

I'm thinking of purchasing a Tripp Lite 1200 line conditioner for my SP1.7.  The Tripp Lite protects against brownouts and voltage overloads.  I know that Bryston does not recommend line conditioners for Amps, but I found no information on Pre-Amps.  Thanks.

Should be fine. It's probably overkill: surge protection is probably all you need. If you are having a lot of brownouts, your amp is going to be what gets choked first; the preamp is irrelevant in comparison.

Note I'm not James and I don't speak for Bryston.

It is not that we do not recommend line conditioners it is just that some of them do not supply enough current when the amplifiers operate near full power.
So just make sure the powerconditioner is rated high enough given your amplifier size.
