Ever thought about putting together such an animal?
With your battery know-how and Louis single drivers,
I wonder what you could create.

I would snap one up in a moment. Anyone else interested?

Imagine seeing such a machine in a ghetto, or urban downtown competition. Guess it would hack in the bass department or distortion statement like those large, black plastic Asian boxes that used to dominate the circuit in the mid 80s. Definetly would not want the finish to go bad.

The hell with the finish....it wouldn't be meant to keep indoors. I'd buy one for sure.

Actually, if you guys hired an ad agency, put up some serious capital, you can probably put Bose out of business. Besides the fact it would be a great product, I'd send you guys a good number of c-notes to see that happen. You guys could go down in history like no other stereo manufacturer.....

Maxwalrath: From irrational hatred of corporate products and corporations like Bose, you are giving people a crazy idea. I am grinning with delight.

But, in regards to really high quality all in ones, I am sure you have not seen a mono system, which was tubes, low wattage or was it SET type, with a CD drive on it. I met this guy, who was the maker of those things, and the coincidence it was that he has its pics published in Listener magazine.

That device was nifty. He sold some through Ebay 3-4 years ago.

Hi Mark,

I never have thought about making a boombox. Are you talking about something like a Bose Wave Radio size, or "ghetto-blaster" size?

With the small size of the Mini Me's and the Clari-T, you pretty much alreay have a small, high performance system (mini system). You can simpily add a good portable cdp, Ipod, etc and be done with it. Once everything is all built in, you loose setup flexibility.

A Clari-T boombox might be nice, but I think I'd rather have a nice padded case that could safely carry a Clari-T, a pair of smallish speakers, and a portable CDP or iPod to the park or on vacation.

Great sound, of course, and portability would be key.
Something I could use in my office, and then take in the car when we go on vacation. Or even take outside in the backyard when we are grilling.

CD player mandatory, tuner not as important if it would be too much of a compromise on size or sound quality.

A neat idea, a hi-quality Tripath based boom box is. Probably difficult to implement at a price most would be willing to pay, tho.

The now discontinued (I understand) Virgin Electronics line made a Boom Tube EX that was reported to use Tripath amplification for $199.00. Just and idea of what can or has been done before....
