Clari T upgrades

I just received back the Clari T from Vinnie for some recommended upgrades.Black gates,Auricaps, step attenuator, sub outs for the future.I am suprised with the sound so far.More detail, deeper soundstage, more fluidity and musicality....NOT that  the stock ClariT did all that poorly but this is even better in these areas with extra  fullness. The slight hint of dryness or analytical nature is removed on  recordings which had it.

Be exciting to see what the future brings.

Nice job Vinnie!!!

Ah yes all is breaking in sweetly with the Mini me's.

My observations with my upgraded Clari-T were very similar when I got it back. Unfortunately I moved about a week after that, and have only recently got my system set up in the new house. Even more unfortunately the room it's in is about 10'x10', with a hardwood floor and drywall everywhere else but the windows. If you want to hear just how bad a room can make an incredible system sound, stop by my place sometime .

Dual mono Clari-T impressions
I wanted to join in the praise of Vinnie's upgraded Clari-T. About 2 weeks ago I received a Dual Mono Clari-T with blackgates, auricaps, Dact attenuator, silver wiring, the whole nine yards.  It's replacing the stock Clari-T I've had since last December.

The new amp has been breaking in (well over 100 hours of play) and continues to improve most every day. With one amp board for each channel, I get almost twice the volume, which is very welcome on my 90DB Soliloquy 5.3 speakers. Along with the increase in volume, the bass is now deep and full, WAY down there, making the stock amp sound somewhat lean by comparison. Also, having one amp board per channel really enhances stereo separation, providing an even more coherant soundstage. One professional reviewer refered to the Clari-T's "narrow soundstage, which was only as wide as the distance between my speakers". Are we listening to the same amp? the soundstage I'm getting is amazing.

Of course one of the great strengths of the battery powered amp is the silent background. It was excellent on the stock Clari-T but when the dual mono's enhanced dynamics, detail and soundstage emerge from silence, the contrast is truly spectacular.

In short, the dual mono Clari-T has all of the strengths of the stock unit but does everything better, and by a large margin. I'm sure the caps will continue to imrove for several more weeks, but it's already delivering the best audio I've ever heard. How nice that it's coming from my own living room.

One last thing. I've noticed that Vinnie's offerings pair very well with red wine. Sitting in the dark at night in my Ekornes stressless leather recliner with a large glass of the grape, listening to music has become, in short, eargasmic!

Thank you Vinnie for making world-class audio available to the common man.

Matt

Vinnie,

Could you add a listing of recommended options with pricing and how they improve things for your various products?

For instance, I'm interested in either upgrading my nearly stock Clari-T (maybe to monoblock configeration) or going with a battery Teac with various mods.  But I have no idea which mods, or amp even, would be best in my situation.

Its getting hard to keep all the comments and all the options straight, thanks.

Hi JLM,

Because most of the orders I receive are very customized,  I do not have a standard price list.  If you email me what you are looking for, I'd be happy to send you a quote.

The comments above from powerbench, Gary, and MttBsh describe "before and after" differences of the upgrades.  All three of them started out with a stock Clari-T-Amp, and then had them upgraded.

Regarding upgrading your Clari-T vs. ordering a Red Wine Teac, it really depends on your system.  Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
