The music sounds so sweet...FANTASTIC...AMAZING.

Thanks Hugh for a terrific product and great instructions!

This was my second DIY project.  I built some Ellis 1801s last  summer and recently acquired a SANSUI tuner.

The AKSA project went very smoothly
...except for a little initial mixup on the outputs pairs.
...I put two PNPs together on the same channel.
...oh yeah, I guess this idea of a pull-pull amp is pretty stupid

I made some ICs with Belden 89259.  I was shocked :o upon finding I could hear a BIG difference compared with the standard commercial Monster Cable ICs.

I am already thinking about the GK-1 :D
I am running the pre through a 1989 Sony ES integrated for volume and source selection.  I find that it is hurting the sound.  The sound really "gets out" much better when I get rid of the Sony in the middle.

This forum is AWESOME.
Thanks again for a terrific musical amp and the fun project.

John, congrats and welcome to the forum.. Ahh the memories, I know exactly where you are comming from. I read my first "AKSA completed" post the day after posting it and felt embarased. I posted too soon after the first listen and got caught up in my excitment. Should have settled down a bit before I posted, I think :nono:

It may just be selective memory from me, but... Most people refer to their AKSA as their first AKSA.
Am I just being stupid or have others noticed this.. If it is true, it sure speaks volumes for the products from Hugh and his intrepid band of developers..

Welcome to AC  8)

Where are you from?
What speakers are you using with the AKSA?

Hi John,

let me add a welcome and further confirmation, if it were needed, that you've joined a band of folks who have the great satsfaction of having built a truly superb product.

I'm also a relatively new AKSAphile and am truly delighted with my 100N+, so much so that I've just ordered a GK-1 to "feed" it and have serious intent to add a DACSA once it's available, I'm even considering AKSONICS but my woodworking skills may limit me there!

I'll be interested to see whether you too are bitten by the AKSA bug and go on to add further components from Hugh's impressive "stable".

Oh and I can confirm that what everyone tells you about the AKSA, particularly the N+ variant improving with time is true, my 100N+ is a distinctly better amp now it has about 400 running hours on the clock, I know it's hard to believe because they sound so good on day 1 but trust me it will be noticeably better in a few weeks time.

cheers for now

David

Definitely.  I would love to hear the GK1.

For speakers, I built the Ellis 1801b which sound marvelous.  I must say I am new to DIY Audio and hifi.  After reading a lot of postings and opinions, I decided it would be fun and rewarding to build some equipment.  First the speakers and now the AKSA 55N+ and some ICs.

Brad, I grew up in Houston Tx.   I am now in California.
I have never been to Oz but I hope to someday.
