Placing My Triple Threat OB Subs
« on: Yesterday at 08:58 pm »
I have a question about placing my OB Subs.  I have a room that's 14x20.  I have NX-ottica's and  triple threats.  My otticas are away from one of the 14ft walls about 6ft and my OB subs are behind them about 3ft from the wall.   I was wanting to save some space and put one of the subs between the Ottica's about 3 ft from the wall and the other in the back of the room.  Would this sound OK?

Yeah, that could work, as long as the rear sub has plenty of room to breathe. It might sound better.

Color us curious! Pics please...

Here are some pics of the room. I am not sure how much room is needed in back but I can pull the couch out a little or just do something else with it.  I am wanting to mount the TV and thinking of building an absorber that will fit over it when I am listening to music.  All the doors in the room drive me crazy trying to figure out the best way to set up my system.  I have never taken any measurements  and don't have anything dialed in.  When I get a better DAC and streamer I will start putting things in place and start measuring.  I like listening to my Ottica's at about 6 to 8 ft away.  I just pull the lazy boy in from of the couch.

Aw, man -- that's a tough room to tame! You don't have much space in the rear for a triple threat. You may have to get creative. My first thought is to turn one of the subs into a portable coffee table during critical listening sessions. And when you're done, slide it behind the couch. I realize that sounds kinda crazy, but there doesn't seem to be a permanent solution beyond keeping your speaker setup as is.

Once upon a time, I owned a single double trouble and parked it on the wall so it would be out of the way. During listening sessions, I moved it in between my speakers. So yeah, I've sort of been there.

If I put one directly behind my sitting chair how far away from the wall do you think it should be?  Does it make a difference being wired L and R channel?  Now I am using a hi-pass filter.
