Alien: Earth is a new series streaming on Hulu, episodes 1 & 2 were released on 08/12/2025.

In 2120, five companies control Earth. The USCSS Maginot, a Weyland-Yutani C-class deep space research vessel, approaches Earth after a 65-year expedition collecting extra-terrestrial specimens, among them facehuggers and a full grown Xenomorph. The Maginot experiences a navigation error and crash lands into a tower in Prodigy City, New Siam, Earth.

But it is a lot more complicated than that with competing corporations after the valuable (but deadly) cargo employing a mix of humans, hybrids, synthetics, and cyborgs.

New alien species are introduced and the Xenomorph gets plenty of screen time. Rated R for occasional scenes of aliens eating, head bites, dismemberments, and blood puddles.

Noah Hawley created Alien: Earth, I'm a big fan of his re-imagining of the Fargo series loosely based on the movie of the same name. Noah wrote all of Alien: Earth's eight episodes and directed the first episode.

An alternate view(which I agree with)

Did you watch an episode of Alien: Earth or just post a link? Of course it's not unusual or unheard of for someone to review a video they never watched.

The review is almost as long as an episode and not as good either. I'm always amazed what people waste their time watching.
And I watch some pretty bad stuff... but only for research purposes. How else could I come up with the bad movie of the week?

I've seen all 3 episodes.  While watching it, I thought of some of the things that are discussed in the video but the video is a systemic breakdown of the glaring problems that I saw.

I mean how in the hell could a spaceship that crashes into earth while its rockets are firing not cause a huge explosion with hundreds of thousands of deaths and instead just damages a building.  I mean, King Louis the LIII doesn't even know that a space ship has crashed into his own building.

How idiotic is the smartest man in the world makes secret priceless prototypes and then send them on a reconnaissance mission where they could be discovered or worse destroyed.

How does a small robot kill off a life form one on one that the Predator has a tough time with?  And that with the blade of a paper cutter.

This could have been so much more if the writers would have taken the time to examine the nature of existence and consciousness(that is what makes us human).

My favorite part of the video is the ads for the Prodigy corporation that will promise to reprogram your kids and wife for $200(each).

I've seen the first 3 episodes..this doesn't feel like Alien at all. Where's the suspense? The tension? None of it here. Just a bunch of annoying Gen Z actors no one's ever heard of.
At least the action scenes are decent. That being said I am watching ep 4 tonight.

Haha. It's a weird show. Not going to be for everyone. You can tell Hawley is a writer's writer. He blends concepts that shouldn't work and I'm not convinced sometimes they do but it's still compelling. He did Legion and the first season was some of the best television I've seen - certainly amongst the most creative. S2 got even weirder and I had to tap out.

What I like about Alien: Earth is that he re-cycles the best aspects of all the previous Aliens. The opening scene in Ep.1 is a beautiful recreation of the first film, complete with Jonesy. Lots of subtle and not so subtle touches. Wendy reminiscent of Winona Ryder in Resurrection. I think there's some Kubrick going on as well.

The grown-up kids and Peter Pan though... that's a weird twist.

An interesting article about the original Alien movie and the new Alien: Earth series set design and why they are similar.

How Oscar winner Roger Christian made 'Alien: Earth' feel like a classic

https://www.space.com/entertainment/alien-earth-how-oscar-winning-set-designer-roger-christians-original-alien-work-lives-on-exclusive

One of the sets on Hulu's "Alien: Earth."

Since "Alien: Earth" is set just two years prior to the events in "Alien," the spaceship interior designs needed to match up closely to what was seen by audiences over 45 years ago.

"I'm seeing the pictures and images of it and it looks like our original 'Alien,'" he adds. "They've been allowed to do it so I'm looking forward to that a lot. All that used look, everyone wants that back and it's coming again. I'm excited about this series, no question."

The MU/TH/UR computer room in "Alien: Earth's" USCSS Maginot is identical to the one aboard the USCSS Nostromo, something Christian was thankfully not required to finish off due to his labor-intensive job creating the Nostromo.

"Sitting with [concept designer] Rob Cobb and going through designs, I realized I didn't have to dress anything for Mother. It was a relief for me. Getting that bridge built took up my days and nights and time. It was such a huge set to make and get right. So Ron did all the drawings for the computer room and they just built it and added the electronics and special effects."

Yes to question the 'intelligence' of the boy genius sending immature children into a crash site with unknown dangers, especially with his claim of their revolutionary creation.
I question the timeline with regard to the ships technology, it left Earth 65 years ago, and this series is 2 years prior to the first alien movie and the computerize panels looks exactly the same(?). This would make the original 'Alien' ship dated to the same era, so no technological improvements in the 50-70 years? Prometheus had way advanced touch screens (etc) tech.

But it's a scifi series, so I'm moving along with the story. Maybe the Predators will make an appearance to scold the puny humans for messing with their rite of passage creatures.
Looking forward to the destruction of the Boy Kavalier and his corporation.
The future where Corporations rule the world is great futurism, it's trending that way in current times.

I figure there has to be a nuclear explosion to destroy the island for the canon to be consistent.
Also, how does Weyland Yutani almost 60 years later(Aliens 2) give Ripley the 3rd degree and question her sanity over destroying the Nostromo because of the Xenomorph even though the Maginot was also destroyed by the aliens on it.

Last episode, episode 5, was the best so far.

Mr.WGH, are you absolutely right about The Alien (1979) movie re-imagination.Also, have noticed, how this Xenomorph was different from previous ones.At the end of the episode 5, when he stands up on 2 feet, his physique is human-alike, or is it just me again, lol????

The guy playing the security officer is really good.  He's the only non-moron on that ship.  This should have been episode number 1.

Yes, there is a human actor inside the Xenomorph, real xenomorphs don't take directions very well. Cameron Brown is the actor.

Noah Hawley Talks Alien: Earth Xenomorph Design & Performance
https://www.avpgalaxy.net/2025/08/15/noah-hawley-talks-alien-earth-xenomorph-design-performance/

"I had to protect the silhouette. My suit performer was not 7 and a half feet tall. I was okay with that. He had a more muscular body, a lot of the suit changes were based on who the performer is. For me, the creature works best when we think of it more as a quadruped. The more you’re down on all fours, the more the head is back, the shorter the smoke stacks have to be on the back, etc. So there were some functional shifts that we did...

"For me the ribcage always bothered me because it feels very much like a human ribcage. I went with more of a crustacean kind of feel in places. It’s more of a cockroach brown than a black. I do find that people try to make things scarier by making their teeth sharper. I actually find the flatter teeth to be more worrisome. That looks like it would hurt."

The Kubrick touches were even more prominent in this latest episode...

"We'll meet again, don't know when, don't know where..."

Morrow showed admirable restraint in not killing the crew himself and waiting for the aliens to do it.
