*SOLD*

The MHDT Orchid DAC in stock form is a very high value realistic/natural sounding NOS DAC. It uses the legendary TDA 1541A R2R chip.  $1,500 shipped in the 48 States. Paypal F/F.

This one-of-a-kind DAC was Bill Dion's (grannyring) personal DAC that he highly modified. It now provides top-tier performance and competes with DACs costing much more. I refer to it as a "Lampizator Killer":

* Upgraded output capacitors to a custom set of 2.2uf copper foil in beeswax, flat stacked design caps from Jupiter Condenser. Chris of Jupiter does not offer these anymore as they cost too much to build and take too much time to manufacture. They are a sonic cut above the fantastic round Jupiter copper foil caps.
* 4 Miflex KPCU-02 0.1 micro farad copper foil caps in other key positions.
* 10 carefully selected various resistor types located though-out the DAC.
* Adapter for 6N7S tubes.  A Sophia Electric fat bottle blue 6N7S tube is included.
* Adapter for ECC88/6DJ8 tubes.  A Holland Bugle Boy 6DJ8 tube is included.
* Western Electric 396A tubes - two are included.
* Various other 396A equivalent tubes included
* SR upgraded fuse

I've gotten a number of questions concerning this DAC (especially from one person 8)) I assume others have similar questions so here are the answers:

1. Why am I selling?  I'm funding a major speaker upgrade
2. What Lampizator DACs have I heard? The TRP. This DAC has a similar sound signature and certainly was not embarrassed, especially since it costs 20% of what the TRP costs.
3. What tube do I like the best? The blue Sophia Electric fat bottle. Has a really nice open midrange and soundstage. People on other forums prefer the Western Electric and/or Bugle Boy. Nice that you can tube roll.
4. What power cord do I use? To me, multi-strand copper sounds the best with this DAC.
5. Will I sell just the adapters and tubes? Nope

Thanks

I don't understand why a buyer would ask this. What difference does it make? Why does anyone need to know your funding a speaker upgrade?
Oh, I'm selling because the DAC sounds like crap when it's not in the shop which is most of the time?
Or, I just bough XYZ DAC and its a much  better DAC. Well then I'd be inclined to buy the XYZ DAC instead yours.

Anyway. Rant over
Nice DAC
Good luck with the sale
