This is a good moment to start this topic.
Hifiman have several new releases and has returned to naming its headphones with the traditional numerical system to indicate their position in the brand's model line.

The HE-600 is a new model using the traditional HifiMan round can, descendant from the HE-6 (2010) 94dB, 28Ω, $800.

Audivina: sealed in black leather can, new head band, XLR4 3M cable, 96dB, 20Ω, $400.

HE-R9, dynamic, sealed, 100dB, 60Ω, only $79.

Wow, the $600 dynamic HE R9 headphone going for $80!  I'd imagine the people who bought it at full retail are pissed, while folks looking for something like that now are overjoyed.  HiFiman does this all the time, they did it with the HE 400i cutting a $500 phone to $160, destroying any resale value.  I'm thinking about grabbing this deal, I've been wanting to add another closed back phone.

Edit:  Okay, maybe not after reading reviews.  Universally, from all reviewers, they suck.  They say not worth it at the discounted price, better options at $79.  In fact I can't remember ever reading such damning reviews of any audio product, and I'm a big fan of HiFiman products.  Oh well, the other two look like nice products.

I suppose HifiMan policy are smarter than the Audeze full price policy as Audeze was sold to Sony and are in risk of closing as Erickson and Nokia.

Thanks for doing my research for me. I was getting ready to look into them. :thumb:

Because of their declining drop in price after purchase, I would never buy anything from HiFiMan ever again.
They got me twice in the past, first with the HE 400i and then with the Ananda's.. I'm done with them.. I moved
on to the Sennheiser HD800S with a Woo Audio WA2 headphone amp..
