I will take a stab at answering.  I run th NX-Oticas in my HT and they get plenty loud and are very dynamic.  3 feet is the minimum for the front baffle from wall so you are fine with 40 inches.

They are  a pretty intense build withe all their curves and layers.  If you are an experienced builder then you should be fine.  The NX3 Bravo would be an easier build and should also sound very good and can go loud with their dual mids.

Both speakers can be low passed to play louder.  I think the NX-Oticas are a good choice if you like it loud because they are 94db efficient so they will give you 94db with a single watt of power.
Thanks Tyson for your recommendation. For now I'll put the NX-Otica on the side list. The room acoustic and the layout is not good enough for now. It is the living room and I'm limited to what I can do. My short list is NX-3 Bravo and X-Statik. I'm leaning toward the X-Statik which would introduce me to open baffle. They'd be almost 48 inches from the front wall. Should be good enough.
I might retire later this year or early next year. My first project will be to enhance the acoustic of the living room ...then the NX-Otica :).
Regards.

Thanks for the note. From day one, the sound was pretty good. They have around 50 hours of music in them. I changed other parameter in the equation, mainly room acoustic. So it's hard to say how much they improved over time. The acoustic made a significant improvement.

I noticed they really changed about 300+ hours. Mine had under 50 hours when I got them, at 300 hours noticeably more open and deep.
