SALE PENDING
Rogue Cronus Magnum w a lot of tubes
Due to family health issues limiting the time and space wherein I can listen to music, I’m selling my Rogue Cronus Magnum. I’m the original owner and bought it as a Cronus in the late aughts and upgraded it to Magnum status a few years later.
After trying a large number of different signal and power tubes over a few more years, I sent it back to Rogue to check out, and to replace the tube sockets (even though they were still tight). At that time Rogue changed a resistor to provide for more precise remote volume control. I also requested the four output coupling caps to be upgraded to Mundorf Evo Gold/Silver/Oil caps. It was the first time Rogue used Evos, which are now standard in the Cronus - but they don’t use the top of the Evo line Gold/Silver/Oils that this piece has.
I have a surfeit of tubes so to make my life easier I’m going to include a lot of them with the sale: four full sets of tubes (36 total) plus I’ll include a few other pairs. The sets are made up of tubes that are NOS, almost new, or at least test strong.
The power tube sets include two quads of Reflektor 6P3S-Es (one NOS and one used for about a thousand hours) and a quad each of Preferred EL34s and KT88s, both with less than 50 hours on them. (No KT120s as I’m not a fan of Tung Sol power tube reissues: I’ve tried the KT120s, 6550s and 6L6GC STRs.) I’ve tried every possible power tube type that can be used in the CM and of those still available the above are my favorites.
I’ll send a full list of the tubes included with the sale to anyone with a serious interest.
The C.M. has a phono stage, headphone amp, and a metal remote.
$1350 including PayPal. Shipping of the amp and tubes (some tubes will be shipped separately) to be paid by the buyer. I've signed up for Pirate shipping which should significantly reduce the cost of shipping the amp.
PS: the pictures show a set of 6P3S-Es with socket extenders: the extenders are not included with the sale.
PPS: I requested Rogue retain the original faceplate when the Magnum upgrade was done: I think the blue "Magnum" script on the replacement faceplate looks tacky.
