Klipsch 404c upgrade questions
« on: 18 Jan 2025, 07:56 pm »
Hi,

Im about to upgrade my Klipsch 404c speaker.  Does anyone know the max size board that will fit in there?  I will be using bigger caps etc so wanted to know what size boards fit inside the speaker. Im assuming its two or three smaller boards instead of one big board.  I upgraded my 600m years ago and loved the way it turned out so time to upgrade the center speaker.  I plan on using Elon (ezeescrossovers) again for putting the crossover together.

Thanks,
Will

Measure the internal space to see what you have. Also, make it small enough to slide through a woofer hole with the parts mounted on it.

Will,

I know this wasn't the question,  but I cant help but sharing this thought for your consideration.  If you haven't already bought the upgrade kit, and you have adequate space around your center for a large model,  I have seen many of the larger RP- series center channels very well priced recently.  Maybe check  slickdeals.net.      >tech deals>audio.

My though would be that if you tried to sell your 404-c locally,  even for a little under $200, and we're able to get into a larger version for close to or even under $300, you would still have options of doing a crossover upgrade but in that larger platform.  You might be able to swap to a larger center at a net cost of $150 to $200. Better now then later.  Then get the kit for your new replacement.

If you already bought your kit,  then please forgive and ignore me.

For anyone else looking at klipsch the rp-500m II is on sale $269,  and the RP-600m II at $299.  I wouldn't turn down either of those, both excellent with a crossover upgrade kit
