I thought this is an interesting page with obscene pics that portray what analogue "fettish" really is all about.

I wonder if there is anyone out there that can be classified as vinyl junkie as this person is.

How can one justify an amazing expense in table, arm, cartrige and phono stage, and the unpredictability of hunting for software in a format is has been taking the back seat to the all common red book digital format that dominates the audio market today?

Has anyone even heard about that player, out of Germany that actually cuts wax originals on a blank record, that is good for about 150-1500 plays?
What happened to that player (it was slated to appear about 2 + years ago at a 4K price tag.)

Here is the link that one awesome analogue page:

Wow.

All the vinyl rigs I've owned put together wouldn't equal the $$$ in just one of those 'tables  :!:

Interesting that with all the great stuff, there isn't one Grado.  :?:

As for vinyl taking a 'back seat'- that depends on whether or not one can find what one is looking for on CD or other formats.

Some of us who have collected vinyl for years, like me, still like the natural sound of analog better than digital. Even though it's a hassle at times- it's become a 'hobby' within the hi-fi hobby for me.

(besides, the liner notes are easier to read for us old farts)

I had "two" tonearms for my ol' Denon DP-62L 'table and I thought that was overkill...sheesh! :shake:

If it floats his boat, then more power to him.

If you can get the RIAA phono preamplifier really really right (and its not all that expensive to do, just really trickey) then you can actually get better dynamic range, transparency, and musicality out of records than from the best digital sources and playback.

Music playback equipment for the sake of the music, not to be wasted as accessories to TV and Computers.

Raul's Analog World is AWESOME!

When I was more into mountain bikes, Bike magazine ran an article contrasting the Bicycle v. the Vehicle Bringing the Bicycle. Some outrageously expensive bikes find themselves on top of some of the most  beat-up motorized rigs on the planet.

Which makes me wonder, maybe Raul (and some of us on AudioCircle) live in surroundings far more modest than the stereo contained within. Like, money for records but no money for food? (reminds me of college)

Would make an interesting thread, no?
