How do I safely transport LS6/Neo8?
« on: 24 Sep 2024, 12:13 pm »
I'll be picking up a set of LS6's this weekend and have concerns regarding their transport. I saw one post from a prior owner who sold his LS6's and was looking for replacement Neo8 driver because one of them became inoperable after the speakers were transported. Are the Neo8 drivers delicate or does it take a fairly good shock to damage them? Is it recommended to transport them laying flat or on their sides?

I laid my LS9s down on the back if a sprinter van. Blanket wrapped, on the back not the sides with woofers and tweets pointed upward. An up and down motion with road bumps I felt was more of a natural movement for the drivers. Congrats on the purchase! I really like mine. In my room they like giant monitors, very fast and clean. Just need ro tame the bass in some rooms.

I think I still have a few tweeters.

Transporting them should not be a problem. Just try not to let anything scratch them up.

Thanks Danny.  Much to my surprise, the seller still had the boxes and all packing materials from when he got the cabinets from AV123, so everything got packaged and transported safely. The only issue I ran into was the cabinets are about 2" longer than the bed of my truck so I couldn't close the tailgate...which wasn't of much consequence since the drive home was only about fifty miles. I'll follow up with you re the tweeters.
