I am on the hunt for the Jaguars, just don't know which version I should be hunting for.

I have owned Sapphire IIIs and currently have the Sapphire XLs. After 30 years with the Sapphires it's time for an upgrade to the Jaguars. Can Mike or someone else offer a general idea of what versions were made and what would be the best version to shoot for?

I know there were the original Jaguars, then the Jaguar 2000, and there is also a Jaguar with LFM? Which of these is best or are there other versions out there I should be considering? What are the notable differences between the various iterations?

I have the Jaguar 2000 so...the Jaguar 2000. It runs rings around the 25th anniversary Sapphires I own tbh. I own the Polk Legend L200 & it beats them easy without a sub, closer with a sub but the Jaguars are just fuller sounding.

Nice. In what ways would you say they are better than the Sapphires you have?

I had a 1965  3.8s with the cat eyes and chrome grill front. I remember me and some freinds drove to The Pink Floyd Animals tour concert in it. I honestly believe Satan  was in charge of Lucas who did the wiring for Jaguar.
The movie Cannonball Run hit the nail on the head with Jaguar.

In the early 90's I got the Sapphire with the Kevlar tweeter. Then I upgraded it to the Titanium, which made the highs less fatiguing. However, changing the tweeter to the Scan Speak tweeter brought a huge improvement. 30 Plus years later I still have and enjoy my Sapphire IIIs. Would love to hear the Jags some day.

Can anyone else make a recommendation for which version of the ACI Jaguar speakers they would recommend? Thanks!

I was hoping Mike Dzurko would chime in to just give a general background of the versions that were available and the basic differences. Mike?

I never heard the ACI Jaguars. But as you can see on my post above I have my ACI Sapphire since the early 90's. Since then I have upgraded them each time Mike brought out newer 'versions', except the one that uses a different housing.

What I heard each time I upgraded to the newer version was a big improvement.

I would assume that changes Mike made to the Jaguars are mirroring the improvements of the Sapphire.

So I would think that the newest version is the best version. Just my thought

I would agree that should be the case. Unfortunately, as I could only afford the Sapphires in the past, I didn't really pay attention to the Jaguars and therefore don't even know which is the first, second, or final iteration of that speaker. I am hoping someone could at least share that information. There must be many Jaguar owners out there but I am assuming most are simply not reading these posts...

I believe there were 4 or 5 iteration. I know 3 of them and know the difference in sound. If you could tell me what the cabin and the tweeter looks like I can tell you with one you've got and what the difference in sound is. Or you can post a picture of the speaker with the grill off.

I am looking to upgrade my Sapphire XL's to the Jaguars. I have never owned any Jaguars. I am looking for guidance as to what version of the Jaguars I should be looking for in the 2nd hand market. Sorry if that wasn't clear from my original post. Thank you for any info or guidance you can offer.

I see. You got the XL version, which is one 'version' ahead of mine. Like I wrote before, go with the newest version.

Thanks, Mike! The only problem is I don't know what iterations there were and therefore what the oldest or newest models are.

Could you give a brief list of the major iterations?

And would all iterations be an upgrade to the Sapphire XL's I currently have? Thanks!
