Asking $390, paid $650, ships from 98332.  Box is 11 x 8 x 6 inches and 2.1 pounds.  Buyer pays shipping, I pay PP fee.  Local cash sale is great.

For sale is my ampsandspound Black Box XLR to RCA converter. Original owner, purchased from ampsandsound April 2023.

I used it with my Pontus II DAC and SET tube amp that had only RCA inputs. It made it possible to use the XLR out on the DAC which was an advantage for two reasons: the XLR sounds better than the RCA, and the DAC output is 4 volts from the XLR vs. 2 volts from the RCA. I was using a 7 watt SET amp and it really performed better with a 4-volt RCA connection from the black box in my system.

"We designed the XLR to RCA Black Box following exhaustive consultation with pro-audio engineers. Understanding that most modern DACs prefer to output in balanced mode. Rather than leaving this task to Opp amps, the Black box utilizes transformers to make the conversion. The Black Box offloads conversion duties allowing the DAC to function in its native mode. This approach lowers noise floor, improves bass presentation including attack, balance, and depth. Midrange is improved with greater separation and depth. Transformers aid in the reduction of sibilance and reduction of high-frequency hash."

The model in the link above is selectable for 2:1 or 1:1 via a switch. Voltage out is half voltage in, or voltage out equals voltage in with the switch in the other position. I asked Justin Weber at ampsandsound to make mine 1:1 without a switch. He said without a switch the transformers are larger.
