Digital cable question?
« on: 28 Apr 2005, 02:07 am »
I'm considering buying a new digital cable to replace the Canare I'm currently using between my transport and DAC. I heard a Burmeister in my system last weekend and it was noticably better than the Canare. The price of the Burmeister is too stiff for my budget however. I'm looking at a cable in the $100 range.

I've looked at the Harmonic Technology Cyber-Link copper and the standard copper Bolder cable. Both of which are at or under $100. Can anyone give me feedback on either of these two cables or make recommendations for a digital cable that will come close to or equal the Burmeister?

Thanks!

Jim

Can't help as I've never heard the Burmeister, or the copper Bolder, but the higher level Bolder is very nice.

The ChrisVH Pulsar will be about that price or maybe a little more and is a VERY good digital cable that comes with a 60 day money back period.

I recommend the WBT copper (gold) Nextgen connectors.  If you want more of a silver sound, just put some silclear on them.

I have a Bolder Cables copper and think it's great. As long as the source and input imedences are both 75 ohms. A mismatch between the two can cause any cable to sound not so good. See my thread on the Multichannel and Digital Circle topic "digital cable experiment."

Just thought I'd chime in so that there isn't any confusion.  The digital cable Jim is referring to was my Bitmeister from Empirical Audio.

Bill,

Thanks for the clarification. Obviously I can't spell.   However you spell it, that is an excellent sounding cable and I enjoyed hearing it.

Be well!

Thanks to everyone that replied. I'm now considering VH Audio Pulsar cables too. The Harmonic Technology, Boulder and VH Audio cables all seem to be highly regarded and the prices are similar.

Decisions, decisions, decisions...   :)

Thanks again for the feedback!
