Hi,
Aging Washington state audiophile here. I've been in this hobby over half a century (yikes!), worked in high-end shops in California in the late 70s and early 80s--met Frank McIntosh, Saul Marantz, Nelson Pass and many others. I've built a few amps and preamps, most of which worked, or are still in my system today. In the early days of hifi it was all diy and there's much to be said for building things yourself. Check out diyaudio.com for a wonderful community of link-minded folks, including the esteemed Mr. Pass. I'm a tube guy, but like JFETs too, and a Quad electrostatic guy, 57s preferred. These days I mostly listen to jazz. I prefer LPs, but I also have a streaming setup for Qobuz.
