Cabinet rattles at certain frequencys....
« on: 22 Apr 2005, 12:45 pm »
Well i had this problem in the US, but once i pushed a wire a little further back it dissapeared. Now whenever i play some bass heavy music or very midrange heavy music the cabinet makes sounds. Its in the top halft left side (wfr inside) of the cabinet. What could be the cause of this?

-Flo

PS: This problem is there with and without any correction.

rattling wire

Unless the cabinet cracked open in shipment it is likely wire slapping against a frame or subenclosure.  Open the cabinet by removing the 10" and play the system to find the culprit.  Rearranging the wires will cure the problem.

That is what I would have guessed.  How 'bout hot gluing the wire down to the cabinet?  Would that have any ill affect?

Out of curiousity, how is the 10" grill attached?

Grill is pressure fit, you can pull it out with your fingernails.

I dont know what kind of fingernails you have Brian, but i had to use a small flat screwdriver with which i ripped a hole in the cloth and had to replace it     Looks fine, but maybe you can tell me how much 2 side grills will cost me ?

PS: I moved a wire from the woofer and the rattling stoped. I will check the tweeter too.

cloth

The cloth has plenty of stretch in it and you might be able to pull the tear over to the side of the grill where it can't be seen.  If not buy speaker grillcloth locally and apply it with spray glue.

I knew you were gonna say that
I looked for speaker grill cloth, but sofar i am not too lucky. I will just look in the internet, they properlby have a store for this. I was so stupid, that the i cannot possibly strech it over such an area.

BTW: I am getting very close to the "magic" in the RM30's.  I took a different aproach in placment which is very similar to the Audio Physics placment guide.

I think you'll be happy to know that Mr. Cheney is exceptionally well coiffeured and manicured.

His nails receive excellent care for "putty pinching purposes" hereby termed "PPP or 3P".

It is suggested you read the section of your VMPS directions and set up guide under "PPP and nail conditioning".

We reccoments a high protien diet and supplementation with one packet each week of Knox Gelatine (May substite 2 servings of Jello) and MSM capsules daily.

Personal Nails can be used for grill removal and PPP, and not L-Pad (pot) adjustment.  For further information you may refer to your VMPS owners guide, or contact "Madge" (Mr. Cheney's manicurist) who may be able to offer further information regarding nail care, and nail care products.

Ask about the new Piano Black Nail polish she has.  It offers extreme rigidity, as well as a very "IN" goth look.  (Quite popular in Germany and Eastern Europe right now, along with Spiked hair and leather -which Mr Cheney is also fond of  )

Madge is further looking to offer (on a very limited basis) a B's wool upgrade, which is a special "conditioned" mixture of Brian's own locks (not lox) to be used as damping behind the FST drivers.

Until now this has only been available to RM/x and Brian Cheney Signature Edition Owners.  This is a limited production item and is already back ordered for several years, so don't wait.

Well, that's it for John. He's gone mad. Straight 'round the bend. One tweeter short of a balanced presentation. *noddle*

Gotta have some fun.

Some people take this too seriously.

But I do lose my noodle occasionally.  Generally I find it in the spagehtti.
