Hello all! As per instructions I’m introducing myself to the group 😊 I’ve always enjoyed music and my first record player was a suitcase style I received for my 12th birthday. I bought a Pioneer receiver and turntable and paired it with Radio Shack speakers, didn’t seem too bad. It wasn’t until in college that I heard a system that really blew me away; a soon to be friend had a Citation 16. 17, Technics SL-1100 with an Ortofon MC-20, Ortofon MCA-76, driving stacked Advents in his dorm room. That was the start of my journey. My system has evolved over the years. My speakers over the years. My first pair of good ones were B&O S45-II’s and I loved them. I went to Fried Q’s, Mission 717’s, Vandersteen 2ci’s, and to my current favorites Magnepan 1.6qr’s. I also own several other speakers that are in different states and condition. Fully functional and sounding awesome and my Fried Studio IV’s. I also have a pair of Meridian M20’s which I love. My electronics have varied over the years but I’ve always been drawn to GAS products. My current setup is a GAS Thaedra and SST Son of Ampzilla II amp. I have an Ampzilla in need of repair, a Grandson, and several Sons. Also own a Thoebe and Thalia. Rounding out my system is a Sumo Charlie the Tuner. Sources are a Linn Basic, Linn Akito, Ortofon M2Bronze, and a Thorens TD-166 II with a
GAS Sleeping Beauty spherical MC cartridge. I stream using a BlueSound Node and a MDHT Havana dac. I’ve collected lots of other equipment, I used to work at a transfer station and recycling center. It’s amazing the stuff people would throw away! That’s the story and I’m sticking to it. At some point I’ll get an ultra sonic record cleaner. My long wanted turntable is a Linn Sondek LP-12 and at some stage I’ll upgrade my dac. Have a Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista with level II mods but unfortunately isn’t working after being stored for two years 😢
