I just joined your community looking for information about my recently acquired Dynaco 70 and PAS. I am an old Dynaco fan having built my Dynakit 400, PAT-5 bi-FET preamp and the matching Dynaco equalizer back in 1977 while in college. I am still using the PAT 5 and was using my 400 until recently when a Hafler 500 I built back around ‘80 for a friend was given to me at his passing.
This is my first foray into Dynaco tube equipment so I am learning all I can. I think the preamp is a PAS 3x but so far haven’t found a good explanation of the differences. Since its faceplate is very similar to my PAT 5 I assumed it is a PAS 3 model.
I am going to recap the power amp right after the holidays but was wondering if the 70 had other known weaknesses that should be addressed while being restored? Any resistors that are known to drift or fail?
Thanks for allowing me into the group.
