GR DIY Kit for this type of room?
« on: 7 Jul 2022, 06:21 pm »
Hi all - hopefully this is the right group to jump in on:

I've been eying the X-Statik Kit for some time... but wasn't sure if it would be a good fit for the room I have.  If another kit might be a better fit, please shoot!

That could work but they need space.  It wouldn’t be ideal to have them where your current speakers sit.  That is unless you could pull them  away from the fireplace at least 3 feet.  Personally I would spread them apart more.  Either that or consider a different room arrangement.  Otherwise consider other X-series speakers such as a pair of X-CS, X-SLS, or X-MTM.

If he moved them out from the current speaker positions he would have all of the space behind the fireplace to let the X-Statics breathe.  Oughta' work well given the room design.  As large as the room is a sub or two would work wonders!

Agree. If the speakers can be placed to the sides of the fireplace, either in the current position or farther in front of the fireplace, any of the OB designs would work.

If the speakers can’t be placed to the sides of the fireplace, the  NX-Studio monitors would be a good choice. Add a sealed servo sub behind the couch and yuo’re good to go

I’m with Mike and Cheytak. Getting something to the sides and in front of the fireplace would be the way to go for OB speakers. If there is room, I would look at sliding the couch back a bit as well. That is an audio suggestion, livability in the space may say otherwise. Looks like a fun room but with some unique challenges.
