I'm using I2S into the Holo May KTE also with the Qstab.  I also own a CDT2 Mk3 that is feeding a Spring 3 KTE and in this setup I prefer AES. Both setups were tried using the same Inakustik Exzellenz II HDMI cable.

I'm feeding a Lampizator Horizon, but also looking for another CDT for my other system
I never heard the CDT2 would you say the CDT3 is a big upgrade ? Some say the Project player
bests the CDT2 but I can't get over the 6 pounds after having a build like the Jay's

If you pick them both up and then listen to them side by side you will know where the price difference comes into play.  If the CDT2 Mk3 is another system where you don't listen to them back to back like I did then it comes down to audio memory. However the CDT2 Mk3 is a very fine unit on it's own and appears to be far more reliable than the ProJect if you can find one or get one with no quirks out of the box.  They were back ordered for almost nine months and now are coming in small batches to some dealers and not others.  So I think you have to decide whether or not you are comfortable with their QC which sadly seems to be much like it is with their TT's.  Also doubtful how much help you will get from ProJect USA which is just another phone line at Sumiko.  I reached out to them twice trying to find a stocking dealer or get a shipment estimate and have yet to here back from them four months later.  On the other hand Alvin and Victor are a pleasure to work with and dependable as are all of their employees and dealers like Todd.

I suspect Soundstream is having a hard time keeping up with demand and it is in their best interest prestige wise to deliver first to the companies like Gryphon rather than ProJect.

I bought CDT2 MK2 along with Jays DAC Signature with the AKM chipset. I use I2S connection. I performed the upgrade to the CDT2 MK3 when it became available, which required a new system board and display board. Customer service and videos on how to perform the upgrade were outstanding. I haven’t heard the CDT3, but I’m sure it’s an outstanding unit. The build quality on the Jays Audio components are on par with any Pass gear although not quite up to Jeff Rowland Design Group. The transport is built like a tank.

I2S HDMI or RJ45?
I2S HDMI cable from Dave Elledge of PI Audio Group.

Might try one , was just told RJ45I2S should not be longer than 30cm about 12"" not possible for me .
I don't hear any noise but would like to compare to HDMI

RJ45 I2S-C is LVCMOS, a very low voltage level. It's extremely sensitive to noise.
The RJ45 cable has to be as short as possible, ideally, 5~30cm max.
