Hi all!  My 1.6qr still sound fine to me in 29 x 23 x 12 living room but am wondering what to replace them with due to their age and maybe upgradeitis.
My amp runs 300 wpc in 4 ohms, a Coda 8.  Don’t want to buy another amp. Speaker distance from wall no more than 5 feet. No subwoofer, don’t want thumping bass. Classical music mostly.
Any thoughts on what I should consider moving to?
2.7?  Bigger?  Send my 1.6qr in for refurb/upgrade?

You have 8000 cubic feet of space so it would seem the 2.7i is a good fit.  For your entertainment and confusion here is a room to speaker calculator.

I own a pair of 1.6's.  Upgrade to the 2.7's.  Your amp is fine and has plenty of power.

You are definitely missing out not using dual subs.  No thump or boom with a good sealed sub or servo sub like a Rythmik F21se.

I concur with I. Greyhound Fan.  If you can audition a pair of 2.7i, do it!  That ribbon tweeter is excellent!

I have the 3.7i and a pair of Rythmik F12G subwoofers (started with 1). They are integrated to reinforce the low end but there is no boominess.

Incidentally, I visited a high end store recently and every setup/room had boomy base (to my taste), including the Martin Logan's; so I can understand your approach to bass.
