New Guy intro
« on: 24 Mar 2022, 10:19 pm »
Hello all, this is a simple post to introduce myself so that I can participate in the community. I am physician by practice but my real love is music. I love to play piano, sing, dance and I go to concerts regularly. I love listening to high quality audio at home so I am here trying to learn about building a good system. I am a complete novice.

I have a Denon AVR receiver with Carnegie Acoustics 2 Channel Pedestale Speakers. I am looking to add some XLS encores and a servo sub woofer next.

Welcome!

Have the following suggestions:

1.) Develop a good listening room (insulated, not squarish or small, and dedicated);

2.) Pick loudspeakers that suit your tastes and room after careful auditioning (bring your favorite music, limit yourself to no more than 4 auditions per day, take notes to force you contrast each and reinforce aural memory);

3.) Find a power amp that serves the loudspeakers best or better yet buy active monitors where the manufacturer does that for you for each driver;

4.) Invest in a good streamer/DAC and discover the world of music, conveniently and inexpensively.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.
