As per the courier guys my brand new set of M4 Speakers maybe in my possession Friday, the 21st of January 2022

After reading all the positive comments i am super amped to get my ears on them. Yeah Yeah.... I know... I have to play them in for 500 hundred hours plus to start getting the best out of them.  Fortunately i have two power amps pushing 600w into 4 ohms, and staying on a small holding i will drive them quite hard when i am not at home. This may just help in getting them to 500 hours in quick time.

This begs the question; How many DB's can i push them to with out killing the speakers or the amps? (i suspect i cant really kill the amps ) But pushing the speakers past a certain volume may just put them on "The Road to Hell". ( Chris Rea)

Any ideas from you guys out there? I don't plan on frying anything, not the speakers, nor the amps. What will be sensible?

I think that you will find that they will effortlessly play loud enough to damage your hearing… but above 85db without a ton of room treatment may be too bright… especially if your room is on the small side.

My M4 Sapphires have been ordered with Sapele baffle.  Lets compare notes when we both have them.  Just sold my M3 Turbo S pair.  It would be neat if Clayton surprised me for my birthday on 1/30!

OOOOO nice! They were not available in Natural wood at the time i ordered mine. Yep will be nice to do a comparison.

Perhaps a good I think. I don't know yet. I had my speakers color matched to the exact wall color (color is Sandbar) in my room. According to the Color Specialist doing them in the same color will add to the flow of the room. Suits me in retro spec. Well at least in Theory. The Theory in any event is a person want the speakers to "disappear". So having them in an arresting color at 1st glance seems nice but may be contrary to "getting them to disappear" when they in use.

Not sure of what the grill color will be when they arrive. I've seem a lovely autumn color on another spatial from the past. Will fit in well with terracotta tiles.

Anyhow makes for great anticipation.

Not that it really is a true answer but the M4 is 90DB efficient and the website says an amplifier up to 100 watts.

That would be 110DB at 3 feet. Likely 100 DB at the listening position?

I certainly wouldn't be listening at that level for very long. YMMW.

I would reconsider doing this unless you're worried about returning them within the slotted time. It'll be more fun to let them evolve naturally? When I first got the A21+ it definitely had a Vail over the sound, and it took a good 20-40 hours before it was lifted. I think it will be more rewarding to just listen to them. No wrong answer here though.

Loud enough so the sound is in your room...naturally. The good recordings with natural dynamics, any speaker can be blown, and to play them that loud is never the volume you listen to at home.

As I await the arrival of my M4s I'm wondering about speaker break in with a tube amp.  My PL Premium HP has 8 KT-120s.  May get kinda warm and put a lot of hours on the tubes.
Like it loud sometimes but not concerned that I will over drive them.
