SOLD: EgglestonWorks Fontaine Speakers *SOLD*

**SOLD**
Amazing sound from these gorgeous, world-class speakers.
Used. Excellent condition.
Beautiful polished black Italian granite sides form a very inert enclosure for purity of sound.
An organic, to-die-for mid-range; a detailed yet sublime top end; and quality bass.
Auditions for serious buyers only, available for a limited time before I store them away.
Original retail $5,000 available now for only $1999 $1900. Cash or credit (buyer pays transaction fees).
Pickup only (30064) – will not ship. Free delivery within 90 miles after purchase. Any further I will have to charge.

Speakers will come with original spiked feet, not the stands shown in photos. (Although Sistrum SP-101 Platforms are available for sale $750 each).
Photos do not do these beauties justice - the polished granite appears plain black in the photos, but in person these elegant pieces show off their feldspar, mica and quartz bling.
These are moderately easy to drive as the woofers have no cross-over, and the tweeters only an L-pad. I drive them to satisfying levels with 45 Watt SET amps. Jim Thompson of EgglestonWorks drives his pair with a Rogue Cronus Magnum integrated.

Excerpts from a Stereo Times review:

“… two of the most prominent sonic attributes of these speakers to be their midrange clarity and their ability to paint a rich harmonic portrait. They have that see-through quality that allows each instrument to occupy its own space, but always with a natural sense of proportion within the soundstage. No hardness or edginess ever accompanied this clarity. I also noticed a consistent easy quality to the sound that just let the music flow in a most seductive way. Cymbals and bell tones have the proper amount of sheen and delicacy and again, they seem to have the right size. The decay rates for these instruments also contribute to the sense of realism.”

“I was surprised by the sense of depth that these speakers presented me with.”

“… floated a very good image across the stage with excellent localization of the instruments. They consistently revealed the low level details that among other things gave a real sense of the size of the recording venue.”

“I found the imaging abilities of these speakers to be exceptionally good. For my taste, they struck the right balance between image specificity and naturalness.”

“To sum up, the EgglestonWorks Fontaines can best be described as being very musical. While they will give you all of the attributes that audiophiles crave, they are never overly analytical. I really appreciate the midrange qualities that keep my listening sessions on the long side. They make me want to get the audiophile stuff out of the way and just sit back and enjoy the music.”

They are beauties. Works of art, esthetically and aurally. Speakers to treasure, not some mass produced mediocrity.
Good luck!
