Dear John or Brian and everyone else.....
« on: 23 Mar 2005, 03:22 pm »
All my stuff arived today after paying 800$ import fees

Anyways, all made it well exept those idiots at the import center confisgated the RM30 ports. Dont ask me why, some wood eating bug or some crap. I need to rebuild the ports myself since i seriously cant afford having them shipped.

Can you guys please give me the dimensions of the port?

Thanks

Florian,

The RM30 has passive woofers, not ports.  Can you post a picture of the cabinet where the missing piece goes?

I dont have a digicam anymore, but i am talking about the wooden construction that is between the base and the speaker.

First comes base

then

MISSING PART

then speaker

It sounds like you are missing the upper part of the base.  Ask Brian if he will send you new bases.  Or buy a pair. I guess you got the infamous MDF eating bugs of the Carolinas and the wise German officials stopped the motherland from being infested with them!

Mine are 2.75" high.  They are the width and depth of the speaker.

This does not take into account the base, just the height of the missing piece.

Florian,

Brian refers to your missing piece as the base rail (it's the U-shaped part that attaches the flat base to the bottom of the speaker).

base rail

It's easy to make the base rail from 3/4" material.  It's a "U" shape the width and depth of the speaker, 2 3/4" high, and with a 7" opening.  Any local woodworker can do it.

And allow Florian and all other Germans to be overtaken by these MDF-eating insects!?  Sure it starts innocently enough with delicious VMPS speaker base rails, but then when the vile beasts have consumed all the MDF they will seek out human flesh!  Do YOU want the destruction of europe on your conscience Brian?  I know I wouldn't.

Florian, for the good of the planet, just set the speakers on the carpet and spare us all from this fatal plague!  Please, I want to LIVE!!! :bawl:

      How about
Trex.....wood and plastic... the plastic shields the wood from moisture and insect damage. That will stop the insect hoards.... [/list:u]

    Florian,

Make sure you use only the best cryogenically treated Gabonese ebony.  Not only is it immune to those wimpy MDF eating insects, which cannot generate enough mandibular force to bite into the hardwood, it offers the best resonance modulation of midbass frequency to really bring the best out of those 2 woofers.
