What to try?
« on: 2 Aug 2021, 10:43 pm »
Almost exclusively a classical listener, but I do have a handful of pop and rock, plenty of vintage jazz. One is a pop/rock album of a few years back by a singer named Adele.  Three or four of the songs are nice.  Who does something similar?  I have no idea of who or what that might be.   Suggestions?

Thanks, but can you whittle it down a little to the two or three you'd recommend the most.  BTW, and FWITW, I'm familiar at least with Roseanne Cash, but don't care for her.

The only modern female singer/songwriter I'm impressed with (outside of Melody Gardot but she is jazz) is Fiona Apple.

You're on your own, Rosanne Cash is one of my favorites so my recommendations will be terrible.

All the female artists will have songs on YouTube. Pick one a day and give a listen to a song or two.

Just watched Fast & Furious 9 (F9) and Cardi B was in it. Her early music videos on YouTube are over the top fun.

I can do three:

Case, Lang, Viers

"The debut from k.d. lang, Neko Case, and Laura Veirs isn’t a springboard or a resting place for any of these vets. It's an exquisite tribute to connection and reflection on the things that bind us."

Trio - Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris

The Roches

The Andrews Sisters

Jennifer Warnes

Famous Blue Raincoat & The Well.

I had the Blue Raincoat back in the day on cassette, so you can tell how long ago that was.  Didn't like it too much. Yea, I'm a tough audience.

I forgot. I think one of the best albums ever. (Alison) Goldfrapp - Felt Mountain.

Forget all their crappy dance music following their debut. Unfortunately, recorded with professional recording equipment at home, so the sound quality is only okay. They (she and Will Gregory) finally went back to this type of music with their last album, Silver Eye. Of course, you can listen to it on YouTube.
