I've been counting my sleeps until my new Bryston 4B SST arrived refurbished by Bryston with an added 5 year warranty.
I rearranged my stereo shelf in anticipation. plugged everything in, the amp fired up for about 1 minute, then the rear breaker flicked off and the amp went off. Tried a different outlet just in case and the same.... breaker just trips off immediately. after trying this a few times I noticed that only one channel light comes on. So thought sounds like 2 issues. One being can't stay powered and the right channel is blown.
This is incredibly disappointing. As you all know this amp weighs about 55lbs. I don't own a car and I'm going to have to probably package it all up and try to get it into Bryston. This might not seem like much to many, but even arranging to be home to except a parcel from Fed Ex is difficult. if you are not home then you have to pick up packages on the outskirts of the city.
I paid $3000 for this amp from Bryston, not some guy on Canuck Audio Mart. I really hoped for a little better.
Now I'm thinking is this just the beginning of my problems with this refurbished(Lemon) amp ?, I understand it has 10 years worth of warranty, but at the end of the day, all we want is something to work. Without having to ship it back.
Sorry if I'm ranting, I really do love Bryston and all their products. This has kind of just ruined my Easter weekend.
On top of it.... I sold my 3B which is working perfectly. So now I'm with any music for who knows how long.
Now I really feel like I should've spent an extra $900 for the SST squared.
I'll be reaching out to Melissa & Mike on Monday if they are open. I'm going to ask for maybe another 4B as I don't want to take my chances with this one.Not sure If I'll be given that option though. When I called they only had a 17" no handles and this 4B SST Pro. I also picked the Pro because it was 2 years newer at 2006.
Anyway this is not the problem of this forum to solve. Just needed to vent to people whom I'm sure can feel my pain.
