TIC ..sadly I never got a chance to try it on the Quad. I'm sure the differences would have been for the positive. It's improved every player I've tried it on. It doesn't change the tonal balance of the player. What it does do is allow you to hear the player without a load on the outputs.
It's like unleashing what's there to begin with.

Also I wanted to add that the Super Clock 3 should give you a serious jump in performance. You should be able to get this installed for $295.00 .
I remeber looking inside the Quad. It is laid out very well. The mods should take well to your player. I can only imagine what levels it will push this player to. The Clock and power supply upgrades as well as the output upgrades seem to make dvd/cd players sound more analogue, instead of artificial. I see no purpose for tubes in my system now. I know some prefer tubes in cd players and mostly because it washes over that digital sound. But it also washes over the spacial ques and low level information in the recording IMHO. With the clock, power supply and output upgrade. Tube wash over isn't necessary because the Cds aren't harsh or edgy anymore.

How do you set volume?  Resistor & shunt?  When you say it allows your source to play without a load....uh....what is the amp if not a load?

cdp has a volume built in -what type i do not know, works off the remote only-0-26 i run at 2 or 3  anymore is way too loud-
i have it hooked straight into my odyssey ex monos-

what i do is turn on cd and play -set volume at 2 or 3-pause and turn on the amps.other wise you have to race to get the volume low before the first song plays-LOUDLY :o

i also think the quality of the shengya sound is very good-no press like alot of players but i think its a keeper
