I'm in the market for a pair of used Super Tower R's.  My current setup is a pair of Cerwin-Vega AT12's sitting on a pair of 12" ported homemade subwoofers (from my college days), driven by two GFA-555 II amps.

With this as a starting point, I would think that a pair of dynamic VMPS speakers would be a considerable step up, sonically speaking.  While I'm sure the ribbons would sound far better, I can wait a couple of years for the ribbons.  WAF is not an issue for me, so the bigger the better.

I want lots of low end, so the ST R's with active 15" and 12" drivers have been calling my name.  I would also be interested in the ST R's in kit form (new or used), if they're still available.

My apologies if this is the incorrect forum for asking this question.  I just found out there was a "Trading Post" circle for this kind of stuff.  Still, you VMPS loyals just might have some old dynamic speakers you'd like to get rid of...

The Supertower/R is a great rock speaker and I bought mine about 8-9 years ago. Mine spend most of their time upside-down lately and in the corners of my room used as subs.  I upgraded the 15 inchers to the new 80oz models a few months back...outstanding deep bass.

Good luck finding a pair local....it will cost a lot to ship I would guess. You may want to contact all of the Vmps dealers just in case they take in a pair on trade...my local dealer (Todays Audio) had a pair setting by the front door marked SOLD the other day when I stopped in.

Where do you live?

A gentleman called me just the orther day with a pair of VMPS Towers, which I couldn't determine which one from his description.

He felt they might require a bit of repair and was looking to trade them or sel them.  I was all full up in my room.

While I can't find (or didn't get his number) I did tell him about AC here and hopefully he will visit and see your quest.
