I have a 2B-LP  (manufactured 1996) and I'm thinking to buy a newer one to try out the bridged mode setup and see how I like it.  My speakers are pretty easy load  (2-way, 8 ohms,  90 db sensitivity,  rated to 150 watts)  so apparently "in compliance" with the 2B-LP manual recommendations.   My questions are:

1)  Any problems if the two 2B-LP's were manufactured more than 5 years apart? (looks like newer models have the detachable power cord and 12 volt trigger,  but I'm not sure if any other changes have occured)  Has gain remained the same?

2) Anyone ever run their 2B-LP's in bridged mode?  Would defintely like to hear opinions!

This may not be cost-effective. Perhaps upgrading to a 3BST would have a more dramatic result. With 90db sensitivity, however, I suspect a single 2B-LP is all you need. What preamp are you using? Maybe an upgrade there could be worthwhile?

I would also recommend an upgrade to 3B SST. I think you would be thrilled with this one.

Sorry for digging up this ancient thread... but I do have questions regarding the mono operation of a 2B-LP.

I want to use one of my 2B-LPs to drive a single speaker, a Dynaudio Contour S R speaker that will be the „Voice of God“ speaker in my home theater 3D surround setup.

The Dynaudio has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms.

The other 5 ceiling speakers are driven by a 9B SST so I have the 2B-LP for a single speaker.

I see that the Bryston 2B-LP is specified @200 watts @8 ohms in mono mode.

Now my questions:
What happens if I connect a 4 ohm load to a 2B-LP in bridged mode?

Will it break? Will it heat up and go in thermal shutdown? Will distortion go up, i.e. clean power will be way below the 200 watts @8 ohms? Will clean power be higher if I just use a single channel with my 4 ohm load compared to connecting it in bridged mode?

I‘d appreciate your input on this!

I can't comment on the 4 ohm load, but I do have a 2BLP in bridged mode connected to a 6 ohm center channel speaker . I should note the center channel speaker is quite efficient and i likely only draw a few watt's .
