Alice and I have three ways to rate a movie:
1.) Recommended
2.) Not Recommended
3.) I have no idea who to recommend this movie too
Kajillionaire gets our #3 rating. We liked it but...
Writer-director Miranda July makes bizarre films and Kajillionaire is no exception, the most used adjective to describe the film is quirky. Evan Rachel Wood stars as 'Old Dolio' along with the estimable Richard Jenkins and Debra Winger as her Dad and Mom. Old Dolio is 26 years old, never been apart from her parents but also almost feral at the same time. Her innocence is disrupted by the appearance of exuberant Gina Rodriguez who destabilizes the family dynamic.
"Wrapping damage and poverty in bubbles and sunshine, “Kajillionaire” is about intimacy and neglect, brainwashing and independence. Periodic earth tremors freeze and then redirect the action, acting as punctuation in Old Dolio’s growing suspicion that maybe raising her was her parents’ longest con of all."

Sometimes sad, sometimes a comedy but in the end life affirming.

Dinner was marinated halibut served on a bed of slow cooked fennel and leeks with a fresh chopped fennel, green olive, preserved lemon chutney.

Evan Rachel Wood is an amazing actor and is able to disappear into her roles. 'Old Dolio' has long blond hair that hides much of her face so you may not recognize her, plus her body movements are a lot different than her previous role as Dolores on 3 seasons of Westworld.

Hi Wayne--I've been curious about this series. I will check it out after I get through 'Longmire' (Netflix). Should be a 'bit' of a contrast between the two series...
Thanks;

I really enjoyed Longmire, excellent for binging I found.
I also enjoyed this actress in Westword, I may give Kajillionaire a shot at some point.
