Bryston Ad in 10/2020 Stereophile
« on: 9 Sep 2020, 08:38 pm »
There's a Bryston ad on page 25 of the print version of Stereophile's October 2020 edition.  The ad copy reads "Just because it has a 20-year warranty doesn't mean you don't have to keep it that long".  That's a double negative.  It changes the meaning of the ad in a way I don't think Bryston intended.  If the word "don't" is deleted it makes more sense.

Yeah I think I've come across that line by Bryston somewhere else this past year. I know what they are going for, but on the first take alone, I didn't like it (either version). Word it differently, so it doesn't appear (even if confusingly) to have a negative connotation.
