Prep for Duratex and coverage

Sherwin Williams recently discontinued the matte black I used on my dual 12" servo subs and their recommended substitution doesn't match at all. Since I am going to have to repaint them entirely, I might as well use a long-lasting product like Duratex. A couple of questions. Can I apply over the old water-based paint? How much will I need to paint both cabinets using a roller?

Sand them down with 150 grit, wipe clean, then apply the DuraTex. The amount Danny sends out in one of his kits would be enough. Other than that, the smallest container I know of is a quart. You'd have a lot left over from a quart.
