Samsung HD841 and homemade DVD-A discs
« on: 23 Feb 2005, 03:40 pm »
I have a Samsung HD841 feeding a Sony 3000ES receiver through the optical input, and for 24 bit DVD-A discs which I burned on my PC using Wavelab, I get a second gap between all songs.  The receiver shows that it loses the stream in between songs and it has to "relock" to it.  Is this a common problem?  And is there a fix?

Thanks!

Nick

There's a hardware patch available from the Samsung website. Basically you have to download it and burn it to a disk, then play it on the player and it automatically updates the operating system.

It may help. Then again you may have to change how you are burning the disks. I know there's a difference between buring a track at a time vs. disk at once for Redbook - perhaps some similar choices exist for DVD-A burning as well. Don't know.

Good luck,
Bob

upgraded the firmware..good news...very easy to do.  bad news, still gaps...damn...next test is to take the dvd-a to another friends player and see if it does it on his....if so, I am making a mistake in burning it...if not, then it is the player....

alright, verified it is the samsung player that I have...I took the disc to another friends house and the gaps are not present on playback.  Another thing I noticed on this unit is that when I skip tracks on commercial releases, it takes a second before it plays the song, so you miss the first second of the song if that makes any sense.  It does this on both digital and analog outs....anyone else who has this player have this problem?
