Hello.
Just wanted to let you all know I have a pair of GR Research that I built, up for sale, that I will put up against any A/V 3’s pre-built for the GR Research. I did a lot of little extras to make these speakers sound amazing!!! I also have a pair of Canton Karat M 80 DC’s that cost me almost $3000.00 and my A/V 3’s have not a problem keeping up with them, and if not beating them at times. If you are interested please let me know and I’ll give you more info and pics.
http://photobucket.com/albums/v653/BmwM503/3/4 MDF is used then coated in fiberglass resin (to make more dense).
They are covered in a Birch veener. Then a poly finish was used (if you want to change color its really easy to do).
The inside of the speakers was sprayed with a spray deadener (almost 1/4 thick.
Then of course Black Hole 5 was used for the 3/4 top of the speaker, then normal 2" sound foam was used on the 1/4 of the speaker (last 6" or 7")
There are also grills that are from GR that use magnets that are drilled into the speaker it self, then covered with the veneer so no holes are visible. Grills are brand new and never used, besides when I was building them to see if they fit. Other then that, they are still in the plastic.
These are the newer AV3 Transmission Line Tower design speakers
For the crossover, GR’s factory design is used, with the Sonic Cap up grade. Sounds awesome there really is a difference.
As you see in one of the pics, there are basses that I made. They are not finished b/c I was not sure what I wanted to finish them with. They need is to be finished and I already have them pre-bolted, so all you need to do is put the 4 bolts in. I also have speaker spikes from GR, but they are kind of weak looking. So I did buy some better ones for one speaker to see if I liked and I did. So you would have to buy another set ($20).
Any other questions please let me know.
