What sets Ron apart from the other YouTube reviewers are the high quality sound samples. New Record Day and AV Showrooms are the two that offer sound samples.

While reviewer's comments can be helpful, I always want to hear for myself, even if it's a YouTube audio sample. I do try and listen past the obvious limitations, and often can get a general idea of what's going on if well recorded.

I wish other people would post sound samples of their rigs. Just adds to the fun.  8)

I thought it lacked any music of complexity. He stated in the review they play wonderful with poorly recorded music....but didn't prove it.  Just simple well recorded instrumentals mostly. No Rock or Pop. No Classical/orchestra. Almost no male vocals. He left a lot on the table in my opinion..especially for a 30 minute sound demo.  What he DID play was great but nothing I would ever listen to. Just another incomplete representation which is the norm with most of these Youtube reviews. YMMV but I was disappointed and wouldn't buy them until I heard how they sound with stuff up my alley. Hopefully somebody does an all encompassing video review that covers all the bases.

In nearly all those speaker demos about all you ever hear is music like that, guitars quietly strumming, tinkly pianos, quiet female vocals sometimes.  Nothing that puts any stress on the speakers. How are you supposed to determine how a speaker performs with music like that? Pretty much any speaker can sound at least decent playing that kind of stuff.

I'm not sure if you even saw the same video that I did. While I didn't hear any death metal, grunge, or thrash, I did hear some challenging music that I'm not sure a lot of speakers could get right.

You seriously need to look around YOUTUBE more. There are MUCH better quality Sound Demo's on there. I'll give you 2 to start with. SOUND SOMMELIER + HIFI MANIA.  Both Have several hundred of the cleanest, clearest Demo's you will ever find featuring dozens of different brand speakers. Even on the crappiest computer speakers you can tell what the speakers sound like.

100% Correct. Glad several people agree.  All that was missing was Nils Lofgren "keith Don't go" which would sound good on my 1970's Kraco Speakers in the back of my Cuda.  Christopher Cross would have been "Cutting edge" in comparison.  I wasn't expecting Thrash/Grunge/Metal...but if you want to play it safe you can always feature some well recorded Alan Parsons, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan....and none of that REALLY Rocks at all either.

You do realize all those bands are copyright protected right?  Which means you can't use them or the video gets de-monetized.

You can tell what a speaker sounds like after its been recorded, streamed through youtube, and played back on your crappy computer speakers? Wow. That’s awesome man.

I find these type of sound demos add to the commentary, regardless of the type of music chosen. Especially if comparing gear in the same video, if it's recorded well and you listen through a good pair of headphones you can pick out relative differences.

That being said I wouldn't mind one or two punk/rock/metal samples in the demo. People want what they want :P

Anyway, I think Ron does a good job with these.

Well a LOT of other Speaker Demo Vids on Youtube have most of those bands featured by regular reviewers. Be more than happy to send links If you want to hear em/see em.

I can definitely tell the DIFFERENCES between speakers for sure especially if they are done by the same reviewer using the same gear with quality microphones. Pretty sure anybody can.  Ive never auditioned a pair of speakers in person before purchasing.

Doesn't actually negate what I said.

Thanks for sharing those channels.

As for your critique of my needing to look around YouTube more, how do YOU know what I have done? I have looked around quite a bit actually. The channels you shared are simply sound samples, NOT Reviews. BIG Difference.

BTW. Since we are talking about reviews, my review of your comments, they come off as arrogant, entitled, and condescending. Something, I for one, do not appreciate on this otherwise friendly forum.
