The LS3/5a are designed as near field Monitor, wonderful speakers totally disappears in near field except for the mid bass bump that is distracting at times. I consider it and the Quad 57 as speakers that are real classics and something I can live with. Heard the LS-50 and it’s bigger brother not memorable.

Yes, the LS3/5a do disappear in nearfield position and quite far from each other, full titled in to cross in front of the listener. But they roll off below 70Hz. Therefore I purchased a single OB H-frame dual-driver servo sub. Let's hope I will be able to fill the bottom end in a seamless manner (most LS3/5a say it's not possible, not only because of the mid-bass bump, but mainly because subs aren't fast enough to keep up with the LS3/5a).

So I am curious and impressed to hear Danny saying that the NX-Studios are a completely different league. I am not claiming that the LS3/5a is the best mini-monitor in the world, but it has its virtues (and flaws). I am genuinely interested in opinions about the NX-Studios.
