I built the Cornet Octal a while back and now I am getting serious in tube rolling.  Which is more critical - 6SN7 or the two 6SL7?

Thanks.

Hard to say.  Even the rectifier can impact things.  Depends what area you want to improve.

Seems to me the front end determines smoothness, tone and extension, driver tube slam and dynamics, rectifier weight and balance.

How's that for a non-reviewer?

jh :)

Jim,

Perfect!  This is exactly the information I am looking for.  In fact, I am using for driver a Sylvania 6SN7W metal base, which is famous for its slam.  You said it better than any reviewer.

Tom
