Hello from LA
« on: 15 Dec 2019, 06:58 pm »
I was on the forums a while ago, got busy with work and not getting back into the community again.

I have been using a Nord NC 500 amp with the new class D buffers, incredible amp. Also a Devialet 140 which is stunning.

I have alternated between a pair of gradient revolutions, with the dipole bass, and some Stirling LS 3/6. Have gotten a lot of good advice from Robert E Greene, thought I do find both amps and DACs have a lot more variance in sound that he generally suggests.

The full suite of Gradient speakers is terrific, I had Helsinki 1.5 and the mids/top end was gorgeous.

Hey Apple,

Welcome to Audio Circle!

I hear you on Class D. I used to be into SETs and I never once thought some day I’ll ditch the tubes for Class D.  :shake:

belated welcome, apple2k.
i’d really like to hear some revolutions some day, with those 2 woofs.
altho the helsinki does surprisingly well, i wouldn’t mind a little more bottom end
(of the distinctly dipole variety) to have a little better top-to-bottom balance with
the airy extended natural highs, seen in stereophile’s waterfall measurement...

...from https://www.stereophile.com/content/gradient-helsinki-15-loudspeaker-measurements

i believe the sinki uses this bass driver...
http://www.loudspeakerdatabase.com/Peerless/SLS-P830669

do you know if that’s the same one used in the revolution?
and i guess by extension their nero dipole subwoofer?

cheers

LA = Louisiana or Los Angeles?
